Mainers remind me of Nebraskans: friendly, down-to-earth, truly good-hearted people. I loved them all.
Today I want to share my favorite quilts from the show, which had both judged and non-judged categories. One quilt that captured my attention was “Magic Pocean’s Salty Dogs.”
I’ve wanted to attend the Wolfe Country Quilt Show and Garden Walk for several years but something always came up. This time I planned ahead and my friend Mary and I went to Bennington, Nebraska on Saturday, July 16.
What we found was worth the three hour drive. So many quilts. Abundant flowers and a perfectly overcast day with no rain.
We arrived early to beat the heat and were there for about two and a half hours. We bumped into many quilters and others we knew so the chatting stretched our time a little.
QuiltCon is the annual gathering of The Modern Quilt Guild, and it was held last week in Nashville. I decided to go because I’m interested in what’s happening in this arm of the quilting world. Today I’m sharing photos of some of the quilts in the juried show.

This quilt didn’t photograph especially well but I stood in front of it for a long time, which Jo Morton says is the mark of a successful piece. It’s a happy quilt and there’s a lot to see.
On Saturday I was invited to do a trunk show for the Rosebud Quilt Guild during their semi-annual quilt show in Burke, South Dakota. I was there all day so I had plenty of time to look at the quilts.
