My daughter and her family live in Hong Kong and I’m visiting for Thanksgiving. I arrived on Nov. 15 and will be here until Dec. 2. A number of people have asked about the protests and how that situation is affecting us.
Just above is a map to give you an idea of where Hong Kong is in relation to Japan, the Philippines and Vietnam. (I’m not ashamed to admit that I had to consult a world atlas when my kids first decided to move here.)
I made a new quilting friend recently! I traveled 7623 miles to find her.

You may know that my daughter and her family live in Hong Kong, where they teach at Hong Kong International School. Because people always ask me why: they’re doing it for adventure. And what’s great is that it has turned into an adventure for me as well.
I haven’t often had the opportunity to travel, but when your daughter and her family move to the other side of the world, you do it. I’m visiting Holly, her husband Dustin, and my only grandchildren—two precious little boys aged 2 and 6.
It feels like there is quilt inspiration around every corner. In the airport, I spotted this cover on Wired magazine. I see a quilt, don’t you?!
