One Quilter’s Generosity and a Giveaway

My guild had a two-day retreat the first weekend of 2020 and I was able to go for one day. It’s always fun to see what other people are working on and have time to catch up with everyone.

Lots of people worked on patriotic quilts for veterans in our area of Nebraska. We’ve been working our way through all the veterans we know about, and I think we have almost finished up those from the Korean War. The quilt above is a Scrap Box Chevron from Franklin Quilt Company.

The Great Pumpkin Backstory and Giveaway

Last year I had this idea: Design a Christmas quilt with giant candy canes. The candy canes would be so big they’d cover the entire quilt. I nestled them together and topped them off with a Starlite™ mint.

Happy June! Giveaway for Quilters

Is there a better month than June? It’s not too hot, there aren’t too many mosquitoes and the whole summer stretches before you.

I live at the northern edge of wheat country and the wheat is gorgeous this time of year. I snapped the shot above on my morning walk yesterday. This is hard red winter wheat, and it will be harvested probably in July. Everything is late this year because it’s been cool and wet.

What’s a Tomte? Do You Know-m? Giveaway!

I’m not the least bit Scandinavian, so when cute little creatures called “tomten” started appearing in my Instagram feed last year, I had to Google.

It turns out they’re a little bit like gnomes. From Wikipedia:

A…tomte…is a mythological creature from Nordic folklore…typically associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season.

Giveaway! Celebrating an I Spy Quilt

It will always be a thrill for me to see one of my quilts on the cover of a magazine. I don’t know if other designers feel the same, but it’s very exciting for this one.

Quiltmaker named the design “Can You Find It?” It’s bright and colorful and it’s easy to make.

Funny thing: I was never the least bit interested in making I Spy quilts. And then I had a grand baby! Now I have two little guys, and the ideas for I Spy designs just won’t quit.

If you haven’t picked up a copy of Quiltmaker’ May/June issue, look for it on newsstands now. It’s also available from Quiltmaker in paper or electronic forms.
