Scrappy Sundays with Stash Bandit
Welcome to Scrappy Sundays with Stash Bandit!
I like to have a way to share new content with followers and to give people a taste of who I am and what I do, and that’s how Scrappy Sundays were born. I think it them as a series, but each one stands by itself so you don’t need to attend all of them for each one to make sense.

In February of 2026, the very first session’s featured quilt was Stained Glass Window. Ticket holders got the pattern and a demo on how it goes together.
I shared the things I learned as I pieced it and a few tips to help it go smoothly and look the way you want it to. The event sold out on Zoom which really surprised me. It was great fun to spend an hour or two with like-minded makers!
I decided to include a bonus scrap quilt pattern as well because I want everyone to feel like they get a lot of bang for their buck. The tickets for each event are $12 plus fees from the ticketing service, and most people’s total is less than $15.

For the second session, March 2026, I chose a traditional block called Strength in Union. The patchwork is simple but there are some tricks to getting the look you want.
I pieced a second version because I got excited about the possibilities for this versatile design. I used solids in blues and greens for more of a modern look.

This is an EQ rendering but I did actually sew a 16 block sample. Solids are not very forgiving, as every little bit you’re off shows like a flashing neon sign. Hopefully quilting will help to hide the boo-boos.
The third Scrappy Sunday session’s featured quilt is Wild Romp. My first idea was to set the blocks on point, like this:

But I’ve learned that my first idea is rarely my best idea. The other day I played around in Electric Quilt and came up with this straight setting, which I like even better.

I’m finishing up the on-point version (it’s Monday, April 13) and then I’m going to make a few blocks for the straight version, likely with two different pink grounds:

I try to give everyone a lot of bang for their buck during these sessions, so I’ll show you different ways to play with the colors and values.
I’ll talk about how and why I use certain fabrics over others. And I’ll answer whatever questions people have about fabric in scrappy quilts.
Please join me for the next session. Tickets are always sold through Eventbrite; they are $12 and include two patterns plus the recording of the session for two weeks after the live event.
