New Year Giveaway #1!
Happy New Year! It seems like a good time to do a few giveaways. My studio is bursting with things quilters love and it’s time to share them with you all.
I have new quilt designs in the first 2020 issues of McCall’s Quilting and Quiltmaker.
This is Living Among the Stars. The little house blocks are fast and easy, and the quilt is 59″ x 73″ so it makes a great couch snuggler or a happy housewarming gift.
I started these house blocks when I ran out of things to do at a retreat. I drew out a simple house and cut up scraps into chimneys, roofs, siding and doors. They were wonderfully mindless to sew as long as I chose fabrics with enough contrast between the parts.
When I set them together, I discovered that the quarter-square triangles looked like big stars if I placed them strategically. So that’s how it became “Living Among the Stars.”
All of the fabrics are from my stash. I own mostly quarter yards, half yards and fat quarters, so my fabric options (or lack thereof) end up informing the way I design. When you have small amounts of each fabric, you get creative with setting ideas.
You can put all kinds of fabrics together in this quilt so be fearless! Throw caution to the wind and use up your uglies, your bits and pieces and your treasured leftovers of favorite prints. If you’re brave, it all works together. These patches are small so just plunge ahead. Be sure there is contrast between each part of the house and also between the house and its frame. Go for it!
Living Among the Stars is available in the Jan/Feb ’20 issue of Quiltmaker, on newsstands now.
Get a digital issue if you prefer.
Now for the giveaway! I have a copy of this issue plus the winner’s choice of two of the items shown below. Yes, you get to pick which ones you want.
- The Cutting Gizmo: couldn’t live without it
- My FAVORITE pins: IBC Glass Head Silk Pins, super fine steel shaft
- Best scissors for the machine from Mundial, they are awesome
- Sew Stack toolbox: stacking storage bin from Noble Notions: so helpful!
- String Frenzy by Bonnie K. Hunter (who doesn’t love BH?!)
The remaining items will be added to the next giveaway which will be soon so stop back.
To be entered in this giveaway, leave a comment here before midnight on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020. Tell me how you found Stash Bandit! Good luck!
Edited to add: The winner of the giveaway is Marsha, who left comment#53. She has been notified by email. Another giveaway starts tomorrow! Thank you to everyone who left a comment. It was great fun for me to discover how you found Stash Bandit!
It may take a bit for your comment to show up because I have to approve each one in order to avoid spammers. Don’t worry. There’s no need to leave it again. Please be patient and it will appear. Thank you!
