Day 2 Giveaway: Fabric!
Stash Bandit is celebrating with 10 days of giveaways and this is Day 2!
I recently finished piecing a throw-size version of a quilt called Maisy Daisy, which I ran across in a back issue of McCall’s Quilting. Its scrappy deliciousness called to me.

Then I made the exciting discovery that McCall’s put the pattern online at no charge, so if you like it, be sure to grab it here.
The quilt was designed by Maho Schwartz. I made just 12 blocks but the original has more. Totally up to you!

I’ve started doing something different when I cut for my scrap quilts. I slice extras! So today’s giveaway is all of the extra strips that I cut when I was making Maisy Daisy, along with enough dark blue Peppered Cotton to make and bind the throw-size quilt. And that’s not all!
I’m also sending enough cheddar Peppered Cotton for all of the cornerstones. If you like cheddar the way I like cheddar, you can use it. And if you don’t, you can give it to a friend!
To enter the Day 2 giveaway, leave a comment by midnight Thursday, Feb. 25 and tell me your opinion of fabric that’s the color of cheddar cheese. I’ll pick the winner randomly and post it here late Friday. This giveaway is for US addresses. The winner of the giveaway is Ann Hudson. Thank you all for taking part!
Thanks for visiting Stash Bandit today! Now this:
Register for the next free class on Scrap Quilt Secrets.

I have not really worked with cheddar fabrics other than a Halloween fabric that was close to a cheddar. However, have read several articles about them. Feel it would be a challenge for me.

First of all, let me say…….I LOVE this quilt……on the to do list, whether I win the prize or not. lol I have mixed feelings about the color of cheddar………I love old quilts made with it especially with navy fabric. It’s not the first color I’d choose for most quilts……..but then, my mom had her house painted cheddar with a red door. It was crazy loud, but she loved it.

I found the blog. I like how the navy color brings all this together. It uses stash and scraps but doesn’t look like just busyness.

I’m fine with cheddar in small doses but if I’m trying to mimic an antique quilt it definitely has a place in my stash. I have a load of 1 1/2 inch strips so this is definitely a quilt I plan to make in the next year.

I love cheddar, which is a complete turn-around for me. When I was younger I had a very strong, negative opinion about anything orange. So glad I have opened myself up to its charms.

Love a great daisy quilt. Scrappy is the best!

Cheddar reminds me of quilts from earlier times in history. I am not quite sure if this is correct, but I have it in my mind that cheddar was a more stable dye color for fabric, perhaps made from dyes created from flowers and vegetables. In any event, it makes me think of the long history of quilts

Loooove, looooove, looove cheddar! I am always drawn to the warm part of the color spectrum, and cheddar is just about the most perfect hue.

Cheddar is a great color. I like for even more than corner stones.

Packers are green and cheddar, I mean gold…lol.

Cheddar (orange) always looks best I believe when matched next to a darker fabric, especially navy & black. I prefer dark backgrounds to white. This color reminds me of part of the Sunsets I try to duplicate. If you notice every place is different depending on the minerals in the air at that time. There is usually orange involved. I could go on how many ways I’ve used Cheddar but this is too long now. Thanks for asking.
Beth Schneider

I think cheddar fabric makes any color pop in a quilt. I love yours with the navy sashing & borders!

Colorado resident here so blue and “cheddar” are Bronco colors. We see a LOT of that combination around here. I am new to quilting so the “leftover” strips would be a great addition to my small stash. I can’t wait to try this pattern!

I donāt believe I have ever used cheddar cheese colored solids in a quilt but I sure have enjoyed the shade in batiks for the bright sunshiney quality it gives!

I am a stripper at heart — nothing pleases me more than creating fabric from strips. It
instantly becomes my favorite fabric! And Pepper Cory’s peppered cottons are a delight to me — I started out in fiber as a weaver, so the tabby weaves just sparkle in our quilts.
Cheddar is one of my favorite colors but not my favorite cheeses. I’d love to win your strips and incorporate them into my next project. Maybe Maisy Daisy.

Hi Diane! Thank you for the generous giveaway! I LOVE cheddar fabric, especially peppered cotton. Yum! No calories, no allergies, just yum. I love to use it as a contrast. It brings zip to all the other colors. It is old fashioned and so modern. I first learned about “pushing neutrals” from Mary Mashuta, another scrapaholic. I love how yellowed or greyed fabrics push the envelope. I think whoever you pick is super lucky! Jane
