Day 1 Giveaway
Stash Bandit is celebrating with 10 days of giveaways and this is Day 1!
I have two great books on quilts made from 2-1/2″ strips and a specially-curated bundle of those strips in blues and neutrals.
I have been doing a monthly Facebook Live with Annie’s so it is fitting that I feature one of my favorite books of theirs: Time-Saving Quilts with 2-1/2″ Strips.
In case you’re wondering, I’m not being paid for this and I don’t get a commission on the books. I really just like this title and want to share it with you. 😊
And if you’re a scrap quilt lover like I am, I hope that you’ve discovered Susan Ache.

She makes amazing scrap quilts and then she writes books about them. Today I’m sending the winner a copy of Start with Strips: 13 Colorful Quilts from 2-1/2″ Strips. I think you’ll like it.

Books are more fun if they come with fabric, so I went through my 2.5″ strips and pulled a bunch of blues and neutrals and they’re part of the prize package, too. They’re like a soup starter to which you can add your own blues and your own spin!

Before we get to the giveaway, have you heard about my Scrap Quilt Secrets one-hour complimentary playshops? I hope you’ll come. It’s a great opportunity to get all fabric savvy!
Read more or register right here.
Giveaway:
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment before midnight on Thursday, 2/18/21 and tell me if you’ve made anything with precuts yet, especially 2.5″ strips. I will pick the winner randomly and post it here and email the winner. This giveaway is for US addresses only. The winner of the giveaway is Liz H, who I have emailed. Another giveaway coming up soon!
It may take a while for your comment to appear but rest assured that if you click “submit comment” I will see it and approve it.
I’m also running specials for quilt guilds: Read More Here!

I’ve just been working on a quilt made with mostly 5 inch squares- it’s really fun. A 3-D Bow Tie. All the blocks have a yellow center, but the other pieces are randomly pink, green, aqua, or orange. Will be set on point.
I have made a few rail fences, but didn’t have precuts – I cut 18 inch strips then cut 2.5 inch strips – following the directions on Jordan fabrics. The quickest top I have ever made. Bet it would be faster with precuts.
I’m going to be making a variation of your wreath quilt for my group’s Christmas block exchange. Instead of having the sashing, my blocks will just have the wreath in the 9.5 inch block. Made a test pillow in December. Will be making the blocks in the next few weeks. Thank you so much for sharing that block!

I have made several quilts with precuts. Many with Jelly rolls, but my favorite is the 10” Layer Cake. They are so versatile, you can get the 2 1/2”, the 5” and the 10” which all complement each other so well in many patterns.
One of my favorite patterns is the Hidden Nine Patch, using 4 matching 5” squares cut from a 10”, and then complementary squares to finish the 9 patch. Cut the finished 9 patch in half horizontally and vertically, rotate the pieces and sew it back together as a 4-patch. It looks so hard, but is very easy and looks so pretty since all fabrics come from a precut package.
Karen

Had collected a few jelly rolls and not utilized them yet. My 8 year old granddaughter came to stay this last weekend and we grabbed one of gradated rainbow colors and used it to give her the quilting bug. It was fun for her to arrange strips according to her liking (she told her Mom about making “design decisions”) and very easy to sew together in 22 inch strips as she learned to use Grammy’s sewing machine. We had such fun inside on a minus 20 degree day. Even though I wasn’t such a fan of the pinked edges on the jelly roll strips, it was so nice to be able to grab and go on the spur of the moment. I love the idea of cutting a few strips off of each fabric you add to your stash and set aside for future scrap quilt use. Keep warm everyone!
Meloney J Funk

Precuts are such a time saver. 5” squares exchanged with friend, coasters and pincushions, baby quilts are the tip of the iceberg. Jelly roll race quilts are fun! I really enjoy collecting small collections for scrappy quilt projects. The books are so inspiring, especially now without in person contact with fellow quilters.
